Mondstille was formed in 2004 by Markus (Wrath) and David (Leandn).

The band began to take shape between 2005 and 2006 when the first instrumental ideas came into being, consisting of melodic acoustic, heavy electric guitars and violin. It was decided to complete the concept with vocals in the bands German mother tongue.

Phil (P.) joined in early 2006 and filled the drum position. The band was nearly complete and the first songs were finished. For the debut concert during Dornenreichs acoustic tour, the gifted musicians Iris (Vndsvl, flute) and Ludwig (Lundr, violin) were recruited.

After this successful concert, the band focused on writing more songs and releasing the first album. Thanks to P.s energetic support, Mondstille performed concerts with well-known bands and gathered further stage experience.

The time had come to enter the studio. The debut album was recorded at Soulsick Records Studios. First the acoustic songs and, after a short break, the heavier electric-guitar songs were recorded. Because the drum position was vacant, a session guest was needed. Krimh of Decapitated proved to be the perfect musician for the recordings.

The complete album was reworked by Stefan Fasan because the band was dissatisfied with the initial sound. The finished album, Am Ende , was released through White Bird Records. After the band received the first 100 copies, the label broke off all contact, leaving the remaining copies inaccessible.

After a creative break, the band decided to write a full metal album. All tracks were recorded independently and Norbert Leitner of Udio Media mixed and mastered the CD. Seelenwund was released on 6 February 2012.

Work on the third studio album "Metamorphosis" began in 2014.
Conceived as a concept album, it explores the transformation from solitude and darkness toward a new self.
For founding member David, this album was originally intended to mark the end of his musical journey, as he planned to retire from music afterwards.
After Krimh had already recorded the drums, life and everyday responsibilities took their course, and work on "Metamorphosis" eventually came to a halt.
It was not until 2025 that, through a fortunate turn of events, the flame of Mondstille was rekindled. New songs and ideas quickly began to emerge, with the goal of finally bringing this album to life.
Now consisting solely of the two founding members, Mondstille will once again collaborate with talented guest musicians for the recordings. Krimh will return to take his place behind the studio drum kit.
Mondstille will also release this album independently. Its release is planned for 2027.
